Writing and Editing
a2ru Annual Report
I am the lead writer and editor for a2ru’s annual report; this edition, covering July 2018 through December 2019, was designed by Katie Raymond.
UMS White Paper Series on Arts-Academic Integration
I commissioned and edited an eight-part series of white papers, written and researched by dance scholar/artist Veronica Stanich, on arts-integrative teaching strategies for university faculty. The series is comprised of how-to guides as well as case studies of arts-integrative teaching projects from across the curriculum.
“Arts in Context: UMS in the Classroom” Faculty Guide
For several seasons, I researched and wrote “Arts in Context: UMS in the Classroom,” a guide to the UMS season for University of Michigan faculty designed to facilitate connections between academic courses and our performances. For each UMS presentation, I provided suggested curricular connections, links to and citations for relevant contextual materials from popular and scholarly sources, and discussion prompts.
Tanya Saracho Profile
I interviewed playwright Tanya Saracho (now best known as the creator of the TV show Vida) in advance of the world premiere of her play The Tenth Muse at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for the theatre’s Prologue magazine.
Oregon Shakespeare Festival Learning Guides
I created general audience learning guides for two Oregon Shakespeare Festival productions, published in their Illuminations season guide. The first, The Tenth Muse, examined the legacy of Mexican poet/playwright Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz; the second, A Wrinkle in Time, was a new adaptation of Madeline L’Engle’s classic children’s book.
